Looking forward to
completing a PhD
I am currently studying Product Design Engineering (BEng) at Loughborough University. As can be seen in my CV, I have had a very full university life completing two placements (industrial and research based). After thoroughly enjoying medical based research, I am now looking forward to joining the CDT at Loughborough to complete a PhD in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine.
As well as a busy academic life at university, I have also carried out a lot of extracurricular activities:
– Throughout my first two years at university and whilst on placement, I was on the IMechE young members committee for Leicestershire. During the three years I took the roles of Social Secretary and Website Co-Ordinator.
– Upon becoming a STEM ambassador, I volunteered at an Imagineering club for a year with some colleagues on placement.
– I was the monthly newsletter editor for the Multiple-Sclerosis Society in Rugby for the year whilst I was on placement there. An example of what I produced each month can be seen on the ‘Projects’ page.
– Have taken part in a number of fundraising activities with University such as Escape and Evade – a 54 hour challenge in which you attempt to get as far away and back to university for free raising money for oxfam and promoting awareness for homelessness.
My interests include
music and travelling
I love visiting new places and experiencing new cultures, foods and activities. I have had the privilege of visiting some amazing places such as Ghana, Peru, Egypt, China, Thailand and Morocco. Last year I went inter-railing across Europe with my best friend. We visited a total of 8 countries in just over 2 weeks, including a week-long music festival on the coast of Croatia. This year I went skiing to a music festival in Avoriaz (where the header image above was taken), and will be travelling to Cyprus in the summer to swim with turtles. I also hope to visit friends abroad, and go sailing with my boyfriend in the Mediterranean. In my future life I hope to continue to travel the world, with the ambition of learning a new language.
